Which hemisphere will win?
Released On 19th Sep 2019
Friday 20th September sees the first match in the 2019 Rugby World Cup being held for the first time in Japan.
With the final scheduled for Saturday 2nd November, this incredible event will even rival media coverage for the Premier League for 6 weeks!
But who will win?
Looking at the odds, two of the southern hemisphere giants hold the first two positions in the betting market, with New Zealand hot favourites at 6/4, but many leading experts are tipping a repeat of 2007 with South Africa taking the trophy.
On the northern hemisphere front, England with some spectacular recent performances behind them are as short as 4/1, followed by Ireland and Wales generally available at 10/1.
It seems unlikely that the Aussies will follow up on their retention of the Ashes (no Steve Smith!) as most indications are that Eddie Jones’ England will knock them out at the quarter final stage.
Mouth wateringly, we have a superb encounter lined up on day 2, when the All Blacks play the Springboks in a group match in Yokohama which could be a dress rehearsal for the final?!
Our predictions for the quarter final line ups are:
England v Australia
New Zealand v Scotland
Wales v France
Ireland v South Africa
That all seems quite likely, but it would be great to see the host nation progressing, dare I say at the expense of Scotland!
